Digital technologies have reshaped the world, with Amazon embodying the dominance of platform capitalism. Once seen as a tool for bottom-up empowerment, technology now enables capital to infiltrate every aspect of daily life. But what if there was another way? Rather than accepting technological progress as a linear path, we can rediscover forgotten possibilities and alternative futures. Project Cybersyn—a socialist experiment in digital systems—offers a counterpoint to our present reality. By examining Amazon’s trajectory through Cybersyn’s lens, we can reimagine the role of technology in shaping labor, governance, and economic justice. AmaSyn emerges from this exploration, envisioning a model of platform syndicalism where workers reclaim agency through decentralized systems, transparent data practices, and collective ownership. Instead of optimizing technology for profit, AmaSyn proposes an alternative: a future where innovation serves social well-being rather than corporate control. This project challenges the assumption that technology must be a tool of capital. Instead, it invites us to rethink its potential—as an instrument of emancipation, solidarity, and democratic transformation.
